speckled wood butterfly

Pararge aegeria resting on a pepper plant leaf.

avocado leaves

Rains in April bring lots of new growth to this avocado tree (Persea americana). Very difficult to fruit around here, but the leaves are a great food too.

photinia

The tiny flowers in Photinia fraseri.

light stress

This small, ten months old Lophophora williamsii was recovering his normal green color after an excess of light turned him purple.

basil

The growing tip of a basil plant (Ocimum basilicum). The little circles visible in the leaves are stomata, tiny mouths plants use to breathe.
