Blackthorn Bloom

"Blackthorn truly embodies the old crone's abilities of care and cursing, and that magical boundary between worlds. The early springtime flowers appear so gentle and benign, yet underneath lie the largest and darkest sharp thorns, defensive and destructive as needed." - Corinne Boyer, "Under the Witching Tree"

Baby Jurema

A new pair of leaves in a seedling of Jurema Preta (Mimosa tenuiflora).

Red Angel's flesh

A mesmerizing close-up to the new growth of Red Angel's Trumpet (Brugmansia sanguinea).

Thorn web

Cacti with thorns (in this case Trichocereus peruvianus) are a great playground for spiders. Don't expect them to leave, bored and willingly, when they find one.

Winter frost, 3: Vervain

This Vervain (Verbena officinalis) started blooming indoor under lights, in Yule. Now, outside in the ground, her flowers don't seem to mind freezing temperatures.
